Sankoboa Ghana is a nonprofit founded by a group of the sisters who shared a common vision of service, compassion, and community development. What began as conversations after church services about the challenges facing vulnerable communities in Ghana has grown into a mission-driven organization committed to creating lasting impact through education, healthcare support, poverty alleviation, and community empowerment.
The name Sankoboa is inspired by the Akan philosophy of going back to fetch what is valuable. It reflects our belief that those living in the diaspora have a responsibility to reconnect with their roots and help uplift their communities. Our members are primarily people of African descent in the United States and around the world, with strong ties to Ghana and neighbouring West African countries.
Our mission is to improve lives through education, healthcare, poverty reduction, and sustainable community partnerships in Ghana and West Africa.
By leveraging our shared experiences, resources, and networks, we work to improve the lives of underserved populations while preserving the values of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility.

Sankoboa Ghana has expanded beyond its founding members and now includes both women and men who share the same commitment to service. We continue to collaborate with partners across the diaspora and on the ground in Ghana to maximize our impact and reach more communities in need.
